NEW CURRICULUM FOR YEAR 7 - September 2024

In Year 7 pupils design and make a soft toy from a choice of penguin, elephant or fox. First tasks include looking at the BSI regulations for toy safety and drawing up a specification to include points from these important considerations. Sewing skills are built on from key stage 2, using templates to cut out pattern pieces, lots of pinning and tacking as well as learning how to use a sewing machine. Pupils can extend the task by adding props and scenery to enhance their finished photo, as well as adding extra features, such as clothing.  All practical work is supported with design and evaluation tasks.
